March 20th 2009 declared a Dictionary Day in Minneapolis, MN
Whereas, the Dictionary Project, created by Mary French, has conceived of and executed a plan to provide dictionaries to students all across the United States, and Internationally.
Whereas, Mary French, through the Dictionary Project, has been actively engaged in the promotion of literacy and pursuit of academic excellence in all public, private, and charter schools across Minneapolis, and
Whereas, the combined efforts of all five Minneapolis Rotary Clubs, spearheaded by the 2007-2008 freshman class of Minneapolis Rotary Club # 9, have succeeded in delivering nearly 5,000 dictionaries this past year to young citizens of Minneapolis, and
Now, therefore, I, R. T. Rybak, Mayor of the City of Minneapolis, do hereby proclaim March 20, 2009 as Dictionary Day.
