The Dictionary Project August 6, 2010 - The Dictionary Project

“A dictionary teaches a child how to approach a problem and use critical thinking skills by sounding out the word and finding it in the dictionary. This simple task gives them a feeling of self-confidence and satisfaction that they cannot get online.”

We have been doing this project for seven years. We did a club assessment recently and this project was #1. The club enjoys participating, and the joy from the kids is catching.

The members of the Yelm Lions Club distribute the dictionaries directly to the children in the classrooms, with the aid and support of the school district and teachers.
