Casey Middle School Receives Dictionaries
The Boulder Republican Women`s Club handed every sixth grader at Casey Middle School a new student dictionary on Thursday, April 8th. The Boulder Republican Women Betty Chronic Dictionary Project gives Boulder Middle School`s 6th grade class a dictionary each year in order to promote education in our community. Gerry Gifford, Colorado Federation of Republican Women District II Director and a retired Boulder Valley school teacher, and Francie Sinton, President of Boulder Republican Women, spoke to the students about how Betty Chronic, a former teacher at Casey Middle School, had worked long and hard with the Boulder Historic Preservation Board to restore the original facade at the newly remodeled Casey Middle School which will re-open in August. They encouraged the students to put their names in the dictionaries and use them to pursue knowledge, history and wisdom in their education. Members of the Boulder Republican Women who spoke to each student and handed them a dictionary were LeMoine Dowd, Beverlee White, Barbara Hosmer, Francie Sinton, Gerry Gifford and Jamie James who has been mentoring Courtney, a student at Casey Middle School, this year. The Boulder Republican Women`s Club would like to thank Alison Boggs, Principal at Casey Middle School, Drew Adams, Casey Middle School Vice-Principal, and Susan Kandyba, 6th Grade Language Arts Teacher, for inviting us to give their 6th graders the student dictionaries this year.
