Elsberry third grade receives dictionaries
A dictionary can be a very interesting book. Especially, the `Gazetteer` given to every third grader at the Elsberry Schools. Jim Duncan, representing the Troy Optimist Club, was on hand to distribute the books to the students on behalf of the club and Wal-Mart in Troy. Duncan talked to each class and pointed out that the book did not just contain a dictionary, but included weights and measures, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, maps of the seven continents, information on the 50 states of America, biographies of all the U.S. Presidents, and facts about the planets and the solar system. Students were elated to have such an interesting book to help them with their educational studies. Duncan is pictured with third grade students Hailee, Leighton, Macie, and Cameron.
