Free dictionaries for kids
Barry Rhodes and John Gates, members of the Beauregard/Vernon Sunrise Rotary Club, distribute free student dictionaries to Christi Grant`s 3rd grade class at Carver Elementary. Some of the recipients of the reference book are from left standing Ricky, Keria and Alanna with Mathew seated in front. Rhodes said since the project has started, the Sunrise Rotary Club has given out over 1,800 dictionaries to Beauregard Parish and Rosepine schools. The third grade classes are chosen because they undergo testing at that age and they are trying to help the children with their scores. He said the children really like this particular dictionary because it has the sign language alphabet included in it and the longest word on the back page. The longest word is 1,909 letters long and it is the term for the formula C1289H2051N3430375S8. It is a Tryptophan synthetase, a protein and an enzyme that has 267 Amino Acids.
