Washington County SOAR!
On behalf of Washington County SOAR! and the 3rd graders of the county, I’d like to thank the generous sponsors of the Dictionary Project. SOAR! representatives visited all three county schools in November, conducted a short lesson on using the dictionary, and presented each student with a dictionary to keep.
The students were delighted with all the features of the dictionary, which included information on every state and country, bios of all the presidents, a copy of the Constitution, information on all the planets, the periodic table of the elements, a multiplication table, and the longest word in the English language–most kids’ favorite part.
Without the support of our sponsors, this project would not have been possible. Thanks to the Campbellsburg Lions Club, David and Jamie Bower, Christopher Harrison Chapter of the DAR, Martinsburg Lions Club, Washington County Community Foundation, Fredericksburg Lions Club, Norman and Anne Terrell, Salem Lodge #21 F & AM and the Salem Lions Club.
The goal of Washington County SOAR! is to give the gift of reading to others. Our sponsors helped us promote literacy among our youth.
