Alum Rock Dictionary Day
The Fourth Annual Dictionary Day celebrates Noah Webster, father of the American dictionary. The objective of Dictionary Day is to emphasize the importance of dictionary skills, and to improve vocabulary. We are looking for caring adults to go into classrooms to deliver dictionaries using a provided script.
Thanks to The California Dictionary Project, every Alum Rock third grader will receive a free dictionary. With the motto "Today a reader, tomorrow a leader," the Project believes that by reaching children early, providing them with tools, personalizing the delivery and teaching them how to use those tools, "readers" will grow.
