Valley Grange provides dictionaries
Valley Grange 519 is participating once again in the `Words for Thirds` dictionary project.
This nationwide project was designed to provide third-grade students with their own personal dictionaries. Granges across the state of West Virginia adopted this very worthwhile project as a community service awareness program.
The dictionary chosen was made in the United States. It contains weights and measures, the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, maps of seven continents, information about the 50 states, biographies of the U.S. presidents and facts pertaining to the planets in the solar system. This is an invaluable aid to all third-grade teachers in their goal to see their students leave at the end of the year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers. A dictionary is perhaps the most powerful tool that a child could own.
Each third-grade student at Arthur I. Boreman Elementary School received their own dictionary, compliments of the Valley Grange. The Grange has a history of supporting education and recognizes that the children are the future.
