Big Lagoon Kiwanians participate in the Dictionary Project
Big Lagoon Kiwanians presented dictionaries at Blue Angels Elementary School. The Kiwanians surprised each third grader at Blue Angels Elementary School with their very own dictionary. They also presented each third grader at Allie Yniestra, Pleasant Grove, and Hellen Caro Elementary Schools with dictionaries. The total total number of dictionaries presented was over 530 and are valued at over $1,800. The Dictionary Project is a national non-profit organization that solicits sponsors to provide a dictionary to every third-grade student with the goal of assisting all students to complete the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers. This is the third time the Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon have participated in the Dictionary Project, distributing 450 books to the schools in 2010.
The Dictionary Project is one more example of how the Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon supports the community and the children of Northwest Florida as they carry out the Kiwanis definition that Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
