3rd-grade Rota students to finally get their dictionaries
Better late than never.
The Rotary Club of Saipan will send out this week the dictionaries for the third grade students on Rota as part of their dictionary project.
The project, which was paid for by Delta Air Lines, involves the distribution of some 1,000 dictionaries to third grade students of public schools on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
Research shows that third grade students are at the age when they will better absorb information from reference materials such as dictionaries.
Vocational services director Jeff Boyer said yesterday that about 40 students of the Sinapalo Elementary School will be the last to receive the dictionaries.
“We had trouble getting the logistics in sending the dictionaries to Rota,” Boyer told reporters. “But we plan to send them out this week. We plan to accomplish what we’re sent out to do.”
Since they plan to give away dictionaries annually, Boyer said they plan to do the distribution early, in time for the start of every school year.
