Continuing Promise 2011

USNS Comfort stopped in Ecuador recently, where Continuing Promise 2011 was assisted by the Rotary Club of Manta in distributing 530 backpacks with dictionaries and school supplies to children at 4 schools. The Dictionary Project donated 3,000 dictionaries to the organization Give a Kid a Backpack to support the mission of Continuing Promise 2011. CP11 is a five-month mission to nine countries in Central and South America and the Caribbean, where the U.S. Navy and its partnering nations will work hand-in-hand with host nations and a variety of governmental and non-governmental agencies (NGOs), to train in civil-military operations.
