I’ve been a member of the Elks for some forty years. I’ve mentioned it in Lodge many times that I’ve received the most satisfaction from passing out these dictionaries than anything else I’ve done in Elkdom.

We believe this is a great project. The teachers are enthusiastic supporters, the students are excited to receive the books, and our club members get a big kick out of the program.

The Rotary Club has been involved with this project for a number of years. The dictionaries are given to the third graders. At the end of the year, the Rotary Club presents achievement awards to an 8th grade student in each class. Many remember receiving dictionaries from the Rotary when they were third graders.

There is nothing like having a child come up to you in the market and say, ‘Momma there is the Dictionary Man!’

The BRW thinks the program is great – dictionary with the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. The school is very supportive and the kids love having their own dictionary.
