Rotarians donate dictionaries at local schools
ROTARY CLUB BRINGS THE DICTIONARIES – The Rotary Club of Fort Kent calls it the Dictionary Project, and on Dec. 1, 2011 the civic group delivered The Best Dictionary for Students to all of the SAD District 27. This was the second year the Rotarians sponsored the project. The Dictionary Project makes it possible for students to receive a dictionary for their own personal use that they will be able to use for a lifetime. Rotarian President Wally Desjardin said, ‘For some children, this may be the very first book that they have owned. We try to make a difference in their lives by giving them such an important tool.’ The project is worldwide, so far this school year the international Rotarians have reached an estimated 1,634,740 students. Over the years, 16,508,648 students have received dictionaries. The Rotary Club of Fort Kent has sponsored 144 of the books.
