Thank you, Kiwanis Club!
Ms. Cumming’s class at Snow Elementary was very enthusiastic about getting a dictionary. The children in Ms. Grizzel’s class had huge smiles and a lot of gratitude. In fact, they asked Kiwanian Jim Rugenski to thank the Club who made this book possible for them! Thank you DOD! Little things can make a big difference in a child’s education. Getting a wonderful tool like a dictionary to keep on hand at a time in their literary development when they are learning words that are more complex will make a difference in their education.
Dearborn Outer Drive Kiwanis is passing out over 1,600 dictionaries to 27 elementary schools in Dearborn for the fifth year! The following schools have already received their dictionaries: Snow, Becker, Salina, Henry Ford, and Lowrey. Did you know that Lowrey alone as 140 kids in the third grade? Fortunately the school has a large auditorium that can accommodate them. The schools will go on Spring break from April 8 until April 14. With that in mind, there are three schools scheduled for April 3 and 4: Geer Park, River Oaks, and McCullough-Unis. Kiwanis President Paul Smith will present the books at McCullough-Unis Grade School. The kids are a joy to be with, and are very grateful and enthusiastic about our gift of words to them.
