Awards recognize Ogden’s Rotary Club
The Rotary Club of Ogden was recognized with numerous awards at the Rotary District 5420 annual conference at Zermatt Resort in Midway on June 2.
The Ogden club was selected from 47 Rotary Clubs in Utah and recognized as the “Club of the Year.” This recognition was attributed to the club focusing on foundation giving, membership growth, community outreach, local and international service, as well as support of youth leadership development, awarding more than $30,000 in college scholarships, supporting youth student foreign exchange and literacy, a news release states.
The Rotary Club of Ogden along with the Mt. Ogden Rotary Club donated nearly 4,000 dictionaries to every third-grade student in the Ogden and Weber school districts. The dictionary project has grown since it began 10 years ago.
Other awards were: 2011-12 Rotary International Presidential Citation and Changemaker awards; Rotary District 5420 Literacy Award With Distinction; and the Membership Growth Award.
The Rotary Club of Ogden meets from noon to 1 p.m. each Wednesday at the Marriott Ogden Hotel, 247 24th St. For more information, visit www.ogdenrotary.com.
