Rotary Club of Moraine Distributes Dictionaries to 4th Grade Students
The Moraine Rotary Club out of Dayton, Ohio just completed their 2014-2015 dictionary distribution, donating 500 books to fourth grade students from six elementary schools in Montgomery County. When members distribute the dictionaries to each class, they have the students look up the word “service.” They ask for students to share how they can perform acts of service or good deeds in their neighborhood, at home and in their classroom. “We then challenge the students to perform several acts of service in each of the three areas in the next two weeks and to report their acts to their teacher,” said Rotarian Dave Miller. The club first started the project in 2004 and since then, members have made it possible for over 3,500 students to receive the gift of their own personal dictionary.
