Word of the Day: Yoga
yo·ga/ˈyōɡə/, noun: a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline for attaining bodily or mental control and well-being through a system of exercises, bodily postures and breathing techniques
“Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” Bellur Krishnamachar Sundararaja Iyengar, December 14, 1918 – 2014
Fun Fact: The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root yuj which means to join or to yoke. In Hindu practice, this refers to the union of the individual consciousness with a supreme consciousness.
“The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships.” Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, 1915 – 2009
