Grange gives Redding students dictionaries

 The Redding Grange presented third-grade students at Redding Elementary School with dictionaries on Nov. 12.

The National Grange, which is headquartered in Washington, D.C., partners with The Dictionary Project, a 501 nonprofit organization.

The goal of the program is to help third graders complete the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers by giving them with their own personal dictionary as a gift to use at school and at home for years to come.

The Dictionary Project has given out more than 14.4 million dictionaries.

`It is amazing to see the smiles on children`s faces when we present them with the dictionaries,` said Ron Gunther, president of Redding Grange.

`It gives them a sense of pride when they have a dictionary of their own to look up words. It promotes learning and helps mold their self-confidence and independence.`
