Missouri Students Receive Dictionaries for the First Time
A new milestone has been met in 2015! Every never before covered school in Missouri has been sponsored! Thanks to dedicated sponsors and team work, 22,426 students were able to receive a personal dictionary for the first time. If you are interested in helping your state’s third grade students receive a dictionary, we can help you identify the closest uncovered school(s) in your area and start your dictionary project.
The following are a few of the many letters we have received this year:
Maries R-1 School, Vienna, Missouri
Dear Mary and Staff,
We received the dictionaries that you intended to give every third grader in our school. What a surprise! We live in a rural community in which students do not have the advantage of technology at school and most not at home. These dictionaries will be put to good use and appreciated by teachers. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Sincerely,
Barbara Laughlin, third grade teacher

Dear Mary French,
My class and I would like to thank you so much for the dictionaries. Mu class has become obsessed with looking up words, learning sign language and studying the U.S. map. As a teacher, we always need partners in education. This is an amazing tool for the classroom. Thank you for taking the time to donate to use. We feel valued and worthy. Thank you once again for your kindness.
Sincerely,
Tina Herring, third grade teacher

Dear Ms. French,
Thank you for the books. I love the sign language. They are fun books. I love how you can look words up so you can spell them right. I love the cursive and the map of the United States. I think that it is really cool that kids have their own dictionary. It helps a lot. We have big ones that we share at the back of the room. I can already spell my name in sign language. I can spell my middle name too. I am still working on my last name thought. The dictionary can help me spell a lot of words. I bet it will help me with handwriting. I like the dictionary. Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Ashley, third grade student
Campbellton Elementary School, New Haven, Missouri
Dear Ms. French,
I recently received 24 dictionaries for my class. What a wonderful surprise! Many of my students do not have a dictionary or access to an online dictionary at home. They often borrow one of our classroom dictionaries to take home. Oh behalf of my students and myself, I would like to personally thank you for your generous donation. We greatly appreciate them.
Sincerely,
Lori Peirick, third grade teacher
