Franklinton Elementary School loves their dictionaries!
This letter was mailed to the Rotary Club of Franklinton, Louisiana, and we wanted to forward a copy to your organization so that you can see what a difference this project is making in our area.
Dear Rotary Club,
As third grade educators, we wish to express our gratitude for the Webster Dictionaries given to all third graders at Franklinton Elementary School for 2008-2009 school year. These personal dictionaries enhanced each child`s skills in reading, spelling, and dictionary usage.
During iLeap testing, all students had their own dictionary to use during the writing part of the test. It was a teacher`s delight to see students flipping pages in the dictionary locating correct spelling, synonyms, and descriptive adjectives and adverbs to make their writing more interesting.
At the end of school, each student proudly carried his/her dictionary home. In some homes, this probably is the only informational source. Perhaps many students will use these same dictionaries in fourth grade as they are tested in the LEAP.
Again, thanks Rotary Club and Mike Gill, for contributing to the education of our children.
