Ultimately derived from a combination of the stem klimak of the Greek feminine noun klimax, klimkos (ladder, staircase) and the Greek adjectival suffix -tikos, -tika, -tikon (belonging to, related to, pertaining to) and indicating that something has reached its highest point.
