Montclair Rotary Club Provides Over 15,550 Dictionaries to Students Through The Dictionary Project.

Since 2004, the Rotary Club of Montclair, New Jersey, has proudly participated in The Dictionary Project, providing free dictionaries to third-grade students in Montclair and Verona. Led by Rotarian Georgia Brown—affectionately known as the “Dictionary Peach”—the project has delivered over 15,550 dictionaries to young learners in the area.

Georgia’s lifelong love of words and curiosity made her a perfect fit to chair the project. “Good dictionaries have thousands of words plus an abundance of useful information,” she shared. Her commitment has helped inspire a generation of students by putting powerful literacy tools directly into their hands.

Reflecting on her experience, Georgia said, “I have many wonderful memories meeting and speaking with students at local schools. When I hand them a dictionary, I often see a sparkle of gratitude in their eyes. That makes all the effort worthwhile.”

Through partnerships with organizations like Rotary Clubs, The Dictionary Project continues to make a lasting impact on literacy, helping children build stronger futures one word at a time.
