Rotary finds donated dictionaries are still in use
The Palmyra-Macedon Rotary Club was chartered in 1950 and has provided service to the local community and beyond for the past 60 years.
Eight years ago the club began its Dictionary Project for Pal-Mac third graders. On Nov. 5, members of the Pal-Mac Rotary Club were at the Pal-Mac Intermediate School to distribute one dictionary to every child in the Class of 2020. These tools are a valuable resource for the classroom and at home.
‘We have distributed over 1,500 dictionaries since we started this project,’ Club member Gary Haigh said. ‘Dictionaries have even been spotted in middle school classes — that’s a good indication that they are being used.’
The Pal-Mac Rotary Club supports the advancement of literacy in the community and as a service organization strives to advance this mission to the children in local schools.
