The Rotary Club has been involved with this project for a number of years. The dictionaries are given to the third graders. At the end of the year, the Rotary Club presents achievement awards to an 8th grade student in each class. Many remember receiving dictionaries from the Rotary when they were third graders.

There is nothing like having a child come up to you in the market and say, ‘Momma there is the Dictionary Man!’

The BRW thinks the program is great – dictionary with the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. The school is very supportive and the kids love having their own dictionary.

We have done this for several years and find that the schools appreciate it very much. We think it is great and plan to continue indefinitely.

We have been donating the Thesaurus books to the 7th grade for at least six years. This is an excellent program and the prices are reasonable enough for anyone to purchase and donate the books.

This s a great and quick community service project. It requires coordination on the front end. There are lots of great pictures for newsletters, etc. I would encourage service clubs to get involved. You make it very easy to do this project.

This will be our fifth year. At first I had trouble getting people to help pass out the dictionaries. Now they line up to help pass them out because they love to see the smiles on the kids’ faces.
