Bruce Hoffmeier, Rotary Club of Newton, Newton, IA
We try to support our schools in many ways, and this is just another way to support kids. We have done the dictionary project for several years. We get lots of positive comments from kids and their parents.
Douglas Elliott, Rotary Club of Pinellas Feather Sound, Clearwater, FL
We have distributed dictionaries for many years and feel it is the best local literacy project for a club such as ours.
Carol Putnam, York Elks Lodge # 2788, North Berwick, ME
We have been participating for 4 or 5 years. York Elks thinks it’s a wonderful project for the third grade students.
Betty Campbell, First Community Village, Columbus, OH
We are the library committee at a retirement community. We have been welcomed at various schools by students and teachers. It is a pleasure to us to be part of this project.
Geraldine Hussey, Rotary Club of Fremont Warm Springs Sunrise, Union City, CA
We started by distributing dictionaries to 3rd grade students. However that caught on with many organizations in the area. We are a small Rotary Club who wants to do something for our community. Next we looked at the Atlas for 5th graders. The teachers seem to appreciate them as well as the students.
Phil Niederauer, Kiwanis Club of Westchester-Bakersfield, Bakersfield, CA
This is a great project. Just to see the smiles and gratitude of the kids that receive the dictionaries makes it all worthwhile. We plan to do this on an annual basis.
Joyce Aukland, American Legion Auxiliary, Bison, SD
We have done this for about 7 years. It is a project that we do every year, and the students and teachers get very good use of them. The students are eager to get them.
Harold Trabold, Rotary Club of Patchogue, Patchogue, NY
We have been doing this program for about 5 years. The Dictionary Project is great. We could not afford this program without this project.
Scott Olsen, Rotary Club of Summit-New Providence, Summit, NJ
This is truly a great project for our club (and for almost 2,000 kids to date). Hard to believe it’s been six years…and happy to continue!
Martha Velasco, Rotary Club of Hispano-Latinos of Salt Lake City, West Jordan, UT
Since the club formed four years ago, the dictionary project has been one of our main projects. This year we are excited to add the participation of our Interact students. We are pleased to be able to assist with such a worthwhile project. Thank you to our wonderful Rotarian mentor Dr. Wally Brown.
