Ronald Newland, Rotary Club of Monticello, Monticello, IA
This will be our second year for the Dictionary project. Last year’s students were very surprised and eager to use their very own books. This is a neat project that fills a very real need for our young people. We are very happy and proud to be a part of the Dictionary Project.
Lee Barnard, Rotary Club of Boca Raton Sunset, West Palm Beach, FL
I have been in Rotary for 3 years and I have organized this project every year. My club has been distributing for many years prior to that. We do three schools and some we distribute directly in the class room (which we like the best – it’s more personal) and others we distribute from a larger forum where the kids come to us. We... Fifth year of donating dictionaries to 3rd graders in both towns. One our Club’s best projects.
Vince Giuffre, Rotary Club of North Port Central, North Port, FL
This is a great project that does not require a great deal of manpower (and/or womanpower). The payoff is when you see the smiles on those cute faces!
Bill Gates, Rotary Club of Pineville, Alexandria, LA
This will be the Rotary Club of Pineville’s 5th or 6th year of participation. The first year the books were ordered through the Rotary Club of Shreveport. The books are GREAT and the schools, teachers and students use them when taking state mandate tests and throughout the year.
Marcella Whiteside, Rotary Club of Mechanicsburg North, Mechanicsburg, PA
This is our second year. Last year, the student were thrilled to receive the dictionaries and could not believe they could take them home.
Bill Rushing, Kiwanis Club of Titusville, Titusville, FL
A project of the Kiwanis Club of Titusville Youth Services committee since 2005. This is an excellent program and we are pleased to be a part of it.
Sue Herman, Kiwanis Club of Melvindale, Melvindale, MI
What a joy to see the look on children’s faces when they receive these dictionaries. Before we’re gone, they are practicing sign language, looking up presidents, figuring out how to find words. They are excited about all the visitors to the classroom, they get a bit of attention from strange adults, and they feel a bit important. We try to explain how much better... Read More

We’ve been participating for more years than I can remember. Giving out the books gives our club great joy, and these are the first new books most of these children in our tiny, poor, farming community have ever owned. The teachers are so grateful for the help. We all think you are doing an amazing job of keeping the book costs low, year after... Read More

The schools and children look forward to our visits every year. We were thinking that possibly the program is obsolete given this age of computers, so I polled the schools a couple of year ago, and they overwhelmingly replied that they are in need of and look forward to the program each and every year! We heard back – Please continue the program! Your... Read More
