Andrew Swift, Kiwanis Club of Riverview, Riverview, MI
The Kiwanis of Riverview have been doing The Dictionary Project for about 5 years. The Kiwanis will visit the 3rd grade class of each school and make a small, quick presentation. Discuss the value of owning your own dictionary and safer to use than the internet for young children. With the distribution this year we have delivered over 1,100 dictionaries to third graders in our own school district plus a charter school located in a nearby city that does not have a Kiwanis Club to service them. This is one of our favorite community services. The children are always very happy to receive their own dictionary. We receive dozens of thank you letters every time we do this. To raise money to fund this project, we sell sponsorships to the program. The following have made generous donations to our club. Councilman James Trombley, Council Andrew Swift, School Board Member Kathleen Bosman, The law office of Pentiuk Couvreur & Kobiljak, Charles E. Raines Engineering, Forest School Activity Fund, Advantage One Credit Union.
