This s a great and quick community service project. It requires coordination on the front end. There are lots of great pictures for newsletters, etc. I would encourage service clubs to get involved. You make it very easy to do this project.

This has been a great project to provide dictionaries to all 3rd grade students in the public schools, private schools, and to home schooled students. Literacy is one of the greatest skills to acquire. By providing the dictionaries, we are helping all 3rd graders. I believe that we have delivered more than 14,000 dictionaries since 2004. We partner with the Terre Haute Rotary Club, the Brazil Rotary Club and the Sullivan Rotary Club. They deliver the books. The Community Foundation purchases the dictionaries. We are working to build an endowment fund that will allow for the purchase of dictionaries each and every year.

The Wabash Valley Community Foundation has partnered with the Terre Haute Rotary Club, the Brazil Rotary Club and the Sullivan Rotary Club over the past four years to provide dictionaries to every third grade student in Clay, Sullivan and Vigo counties in West Central Indiana. This is a fabulous literacy project. The Community Foundation purchases the dictionaries. The Rotarians go into each classroom and talk about why correct spelling is important. The children who receive the dictionaries are thrilled to have a book of their own. We often have parents advising us that their child received the dictionary 3 years prior and are still using it.
