We have participated for 4 years. This year I hope will go as smoothly as the previous years. The joy expressed by the students when they receive their own dictionary is a wonder to behold. The Dictionary Project is wonderful way to get the children interested in life long learning. The Friends are able to finance this project because we have a wonderful group of volunteers who sell used books in a basement room or our library. Through their dedication we are able to supply the third grade students in our five elementary schools with their own dictionaries.

This will be the fourth year the Friends of the South Windsor Library will be distributing the dictionaries. It is a very rewarding experience for our group. The project is a wonderful way to improve a student’s experience. Credit should be given to the tireless volunteers who man the used book sale room at our library. They volunteer their time and efforts to bring in the money to fund the Dictionary Project as well as a scholarship fund and many gifts to the library.
