This is our Rotary Club’s favorite service project. We visit each public elementary school plus several private schools every year. With a couple of exceptions every member of the club visits at least one of the schools as part of the presentation team. We speak to the third graders about the importance and use of a dictionary; tell them about Rotary and its ideals; hand out a dictionary to each student; and point out the 4-Way Test sticker on the front of each dictionary. Seeing the third-grade children enthusiastically receive their dictionaries is a moving experience–even more so when we later receive thank-you letters from the children.
