George Johnson, Minden/Douglas Elks Lodge # 2670, Minden, NV

I am the Chairman for our Dictionary Project with the Minden-Douglas Elks Lodge # 2670 here in Northern Nevada. Myself and a couple other Elks went to each elementary school and personally presented a dictionary to each 3rd grader. Oh, to see the joy and excitement in their eyes, they were so pleased to receive their own personal dictionary and to be able to take it home to do homework and then go back to school with it where the teachers would help them correctly use the dictionary. I have been doing this Project for four years now and this program truly makes me feel that I am returning to the community that helped me so much over the years. Over these four years I have run into older children that remember me and tell me that they still have their dictionary and use it nearly daily. Thank you so very much for having this program that we are able to be part of, keep up your good work and we will continue to be part of it as long as I am around.
